Fees and Audition Requirements

Interested singers are invited to the first rehearsal in September and January for a group audition. All voice parts are welcome, especially tenors and basses. Some sight-reading ability and good vocal quality are pre-requisites.

Rehearsals are held Monday nights from 7:15 pm to 9:30 pm at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 20 Young Road. Rehearsals start again on Monday, September 11, 2023, which is an open rehearsal. Rehearsals resume for members of the Kanata Choral Society with an invitation to anybody who likes to sing to come and find out what choral singing is all about at the open rehearsal.

At this Open Rehearsal you will meet people who love to sing, are very friendly and meet on a weekly basis in order to show off their final product in a glorious concert.

The choir performs three concerts per year and takes part in benefit concerts.

The music genre ranges from classic to popular. So come out and give it a try, we love to see you! at 7:15 pm.

There is one annual fee which includes membership and use of music. The choir sponsors workshops to help improve the choir's overall performance. Members are expected to participate for a small fee to help the choir grow musically and artistically.

Students under age 25 may receive credits for joining the choir and special membership considerations apply.

The Chamber Choir

The Kanata Choral Society has a subsidiary group of auditioned singers called the Chamber Choir which was started as a millennium project and will continue into the upcoming season. The Chamber Choir performs more challenging music at concerts.
Auditions for the Chamber Choir will be held in September and as deemed needed by the director. Please call (613) 592-1991 or email kanatachoralsociety@hotmail.com to set up an appointment.

Members are asked to help the choir by:

. Learning their voice parts by listening to MP3 and MIDI files, and recordings e.g. YouTube

. Volunteer time to assist in the running of the choir

. Help in fundraising efforts

. Pay the annual dues on time

The Kanata Choral Society is a non-profit organization supported by dues, ticket sales, fund-raising activities and contributions.
